August Shoots

This was a very sketchy photo shoot in someone's living room-turned-makeshift-studio...  I would have cancelled it had the photographer not been the nicest one we've met!

He took a lot of time to play with Hudson and make him feel super comfortable before and during shooting.  I was really impressed and it made up for the less-than-ideal location (sort of)

There were actually animals in the apartment (cats and a rabbit!!!!!) and I have terrible allergies...  so I had to go home.  But Devin and Hudson stayed to finish the shoot.

As I say, luckily the people there were super nice else we would have been outta there!!!

They will often put a piece of tape on the floor and ask Hudson to stand on it - the trouble with that is that he takes instructions VERY seriously, and if you ask him to step on a piece of tape, he will plant his feet down and will.not.move.them.again.  At all.  Ever.

And it can make for funny looking stances such as above..

H loves any kind of prop, hat, glasses..  and this particularly cute headphones setup!

We often spend a lot of time at the shoots entertaining Hudson and playing and making him laugh, so we don't always get snaps of the best pics..  Often just what ends up being the last shot captured on the screen.

And since I left this one early, I don't really know what happened next!

These are from his first shoot with Why and 1/2.  They organize all their own shoots and models (as opposed to working with an agent), so their shoots are totally different to the others.  Generally you work for 2 hours and you are there with one or two other people overlapping your time slot.  It's a lot of clothes (Hudson has done over 20 outfits in 2 hours!
Thank goodness changing clothes doesn't bother him in the least....!!!)

For Why and 1/2 it's a different story - they book all the models to come at once.  So it's a ZOO with 10 or 12 kids running around, plus parents, plus oftentimes siblings, plus each model gets their own personal assistant that dresses them, feeds and entertains them!  All cramped into a little studio - is pretty wild.

But I have to say I thought it was great.  They really cater to the children unlike some of the other clients - there is a big TV with cartoons on, tons of drinks and snacks, books, puzzles, toys, the personal assistant I mentioned, plus they provide coffee and lunch for the parents (and the children of course).  There are also 2 or 3 girls dressed up in silly outfits with a HUGE bag of tricks to entertain the kids and try to make them smile on set.

The only tricky part is that they love group shots!!!!

You try to get 4-7 toddlers to stand in one spot, stop picking their nose, look up and smile at the camera at the same time....!!!  CRAZY.

Sienna joined us in the morning as I had no idea it was going to be such a madhouse.  Was no place for a curious baby to be exploring, so she had a quick meal and daddy took her home! :)

another massive group shot...

Here is H with his assistant, April

She was as sweet as can be and was absolutely enchanted with H..

This was her trying to "eat him"..

Keeping model boy will hydrated

H likes to grab my phone and take 1000 pictures of himself...

Mommy bonding during break time!
These shoots are actually great opportunities for us to spend time together without baby...

Because they have all the kids come at once, there is a lot of downtime between shots.  Hudson was actually there 7 hours (i know, i know - it sounds like a long time (and it was..) - but he was fine and happy and playing and it was raining, so we would have just been sitting around at home otherwise..!)

In all that time, he only did 6 or 8 outfits (which is normally what he would do in 1-2 hours at other shoots), so his actual "working time" was short.

We had a lot of fun!

This was the afternoon portion.  They changed the set into a little classroom - it was adorable!!

We could have gone home after the morning shoot, but since Hudson was in such good spirits and having fun, we stuck around (which is why we ended up being there for 7 hours - that isn't normal..)

This was quite a jacket.  Had tons of crazy zippers and Hudson had fun trying to figure out where they all went..

He liked it and went to the huge mirror to check himself out!

cutie

Girlfriend shot!

Sienna came back towards the end and found this perfect sized chair to use as a walker.  She took that thing round and round and back and forth the whole studio for a long time!!!

Bonding with another little sister..

big brother comes to see what's going on

last shot of hudson's day - they wanted him to hold a stack of books on his head!  crazy - he is 2 yrs old....!!

cutie pie did great - and actually, he was able to balance a book on his head without holding on...!!!!
