Sick and Jealous

Our busy Easter schedule ended up getting the better of Hudson and by Tuesday he was really sick. Luckily we have an English-speaking pediatrician on our block (!) and we were able to show up without an appointment on Wednesday and be seen.

Diagnosis: bronchitis.

Several meds to help control his coughing and running nose and instructions to keep the children separated. Easier said than done...

Luckily, the meds have really helped and he has seemed much better today. Still very tired and grumpy, so we know he's still not well, but at least the coughing fits have gone for the most part.

Meanwhile, we have gotten off to a rocky start with the neighbors on our floor. They have a (very nice) table in our common area, so we thought it would be ok to put our little shoe bench outside by our door.  The movers were told by them that this was not acceptable, so we brought it inside our apartment, but have still been leaving our 2 strollers parked outside. I'm pretty sure they are not thrilled with this arrangement (but we have absolutely no space for them in the apt!), and while they haven't said anything to us, they haven't exactly welcomed us either.

In any event, they must be doing some work on their place as their front door was wide open yesterday when we were on our way out.  We couldn't help but notice a gorgeous dining table and beautiful staircase behind the entrance way - meaning they have at least one more apartment on the upper floor incorporated into their space. It was absolutely stunning, with fabulous finishes (from what we saw at a glance, we didn't break and enter or anything!) and I couldn't help but sigh when we returned to our place, which felt quite small and pitiful in comparison.

The sentiment took me by surprise - because I love our apartment and am generally not a very jealous person.  I reminded myself how immensely blessed we are and put away those foolish thoughts!
