Dragonboat Racing Day

On Wednesday we celebrated our first Dragonboat Racing Day.  There is some legend about a guy that committed suicide (great premise for a national holiday, hey?) by tying a bunch of rice dumplings to himself.  Devin brought some home for us, and I could see why - those suckers are heavy!

They came frozen and I steamed them all together - which proved to be a really silly idea as just one of them was more than enough food for Devin and me.

We actually cheated a little bit and had our traditional meal on Tuesday night, and then got the family up and out on Wednesday morning to watch the races!  :)

It was great because we were shaded by the bridge and didn't have to worry about being burned - we were actually on the opposite side of where everything was happening, but it was fine.  They even announced all the races in English!  Hudson had a great time.  Sienna took a nice nap through most of it.....  (see below)
