First impressions

The family woke up at 2:30 this morning. We did get a good 7 hours of sleep so I felt well rested, but as you can imagine, there aren't many kid-friendly activities at that time of morning, so we played in the room and went for a walk in the hotel. We were counting down the minutes until 6:30am breakfast - lovely! - after which we took a leisurely walk around the neighborhood.

It was wonderful to be out before the city was up. The air was crisp, the streets were quiet, and there were a ton of elderly people everywhere - walking their dogs or doing tai chi or other exercises. It was quite amusing as most of them were walking around slapping/punching themselves - presumably to aid circulation?! We laughed to ourselves and enjoyed the show.

Stopped at a playground and Hudson and I made up a little game counting and climbing up the steps, then I would jump down and he'd go down the slide. He was so amused by this (even coming up with a dialogue we had to recite at certain points), that he insisted on repeating it about 50 times! I thought we were going to be there all day!

Finally the sun came out and it started to get hot and we made our way back to the hotel. (Mental note that early morning might be the nicest time to enjoy the city.)

Park we stopped at - notice the 4 people walking around. The guy to the left is punching himself in the stomach repeatedly, the guy on the right is leaning over and slapping the back of his legs over and over..

Stretching/dancing??

Hudson instructing me on the next step in our series

Leading me and eventually pushing me off!

...and then laughing hysterically at what's he's done.

More leg slapping

Please don't bring your laundry to the park.

Tai chi everywhere

No idea.....!

Admirers stopped us to chat (communication success 1 out of 10)
